Japanese Fashion

Okay There are many types of Japanese fashion as you can see here on this blog..I've mentioned the majority but there are still more types out there and more being created.... Japan is very diverse and creative when it comes to coming up with new styles.... I wish some more of it would rub off here...

Cosplay/ コスプレ

Cosplay is short for costume play where basically you dress up as an anime character or manga character. It is very popular in Japan but it is also popular here in the U.S.  In comic book conventions people cosplay all the time. Or in games such as Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) cosplay is also used.

Decora/デコラ

Decora- The name is shortened based on the word Decoration. It is worn by mostly young children and teens. It is  a  very cute/playful style involving bright colors and excessive accessories and jewelry. Common associated accessories with Decora are Hello Kitty and Pokemon

Other types of Lolita

• • Black/Kuroくろ Lolitas- Lolitas that wear Only black Clothing
• • Casual- A very simple style of lolita consisting of mainly a knee length black skirt... "(sometimes paired with a petticoat), a T-shirt with a screenprinted image or a cutsew from any of the wellknown brands, and simple make-up and hairstlyes. In addition, one might carry a teddy bear or cute bag." Popular brands Candy Violet
• • Country Lolitas- This style of Lolita has dresses mainly created with floral prints and are associated with straw hats and or baskets. Popular brands - Victorian Maiden, Emily Temple Cute ,Mary Magdelene
• • Erotic Lolitas-  A sexy type of Lolita that mostly wear leather, vinyl , corsets, knee high boots, and transparent petticoats. Common acessories arewhips, small devil wings and sometimes  horns.
• • French Maid Lolitas-"As the name suggests, these girls look like French house girls but with a lolita twist. Their clothes include black dresses and knee high socks paired with a white apron. They sometimes also wear a white blouse and have a tray or feather-duster and a maids headband as accessories."
• • Kodona/Ōji (王子^?) - ^"meaning "prince", is a Japanese fashion that is considered the male version of Lolita fashion. This style takes its influence from the clothing boys in the Victorian era wore.^[14] Though it is considered a "boy style", it is often worn by both genders. Ōji is inspired by what was worn by Victorian boys, and includes masculine blouses and shirts, knickerbockers and other styles of short trousers, knee high socks, top hats, and newsboy caps. The colors usually used are black, white, blue and burgundy, though there are feminine versions of the fashion with a broader palette. Make-up, when worn with the fashion, is usually light and minimal.Good examples would be some of the outfits sold through Baby, the Stars Shine Bright's line Alice and the Pirates."
  
• • Nun Lolita-"I believe this is another style started by Mana. The girls dress like nuns in long black and white clothing. They expose minimal skin and sometimes wear crosses."
• • Nurse Lolita- Lolitas that have lolita style in the form of nurse uniforms
• • New/cosplaying Lolitas- Lolitas that cosplay  or dress up as anime characters
  
• • Princess /姫Lolitas- Princess themed Lolitas based on the European aristocrat style
• • Qi Loli-"Qi Lolita is a similar style but uses Chinese clothing and accessories in place of Japanese. Usually this includes qipao and cheongsam-dresses modified to accommodate a petticoat. Accessories include platform-slippers for footwear and bun-covers as hair accessories"
• • Schoolgirl Lolita- Lolitas that dress in school girl uniform style
• • Waloli-"Wa Lolita is a style that is often recognised by the Kimono-esque look of the outfits, and is for those Lolitas who may love to get in-touch with the country that brought about Lolita fashion.
  Wa Lolita involves long 'sode' or, sleeves, and 'obi' or sashes that are taken from Kimono/yukata outfits, and fused with the bell-shaped skirt of lolita. Wa Lolita fabrics are often very extravagant like most Kimono fabrics, involving detailed flower prints, and cranes. Like all Lolita outfits and Kimono, Wa Lolita should not be made out of shiny fabrics such as those that Chinese qi-pao are made of.
  Although this style is quite different from usual Lolita styles, modesty is still a large part of this style, and your skirt should be a reasonable length for lolita. Sadly a lot of Wa Lolita outfits on the market today have very short skirts, causing many people to be turned-off by Wa Lolita.
  
  Traditional Japanese Kanzashi or flower hairclips may work lovely with this style in the place of a Lolita head-dress. Make-up can range from light and natural to Japanese geisha inspired. It's best not to do makeup very similarly to that of a geisha as it will most likely end up looking costumey, and end-up ruining your beautifully put together outfit."
  
  • White/ Shiro しろ Lolitas  - Lolitas that only wear white Clothing
  
• Guro Lolita -"Also called "Grotesque Lolita" or "Injured Lolita", Guro Lolita uses items like fake blood, eyepatches, and bandages to give the appearance of injury. The concept of Guro Lolita is mainly to take on the appearance of a broken doll. Guro Lolitas often have a gun or knife in their hands in photos to represent the grotesque"
• Sailor Lolita-"Lolita fashion that incorporates the look of a Sailor Seifuku. This can include sailor collars and ties, sailor hats, and stripes. Sailor Lolita is widely popular in Japanese anime, featured in many popular shows."

Punk Lolita? パンクロリ

Punk Lolita- パンクロリ  is the Lolita fashion with punk elements. Such as tattered clothing, ties, chains, plaids, shorts and safety pins. The most popular types of clothing worn are cutsews and skirts as well as jumpers and dresses. For shoes mostly boots, Mary Janes, or oxfords with platforms are worn. Popular labels are A+Lidel, Putumayo, h. NAOTO and Na+H.

Classic lolita

Classic Lolita- （クラシック）Is considered to be the more mature and sophisticated of most Lolita fashions. It mainly focuses on the styles of the Baroque, Regency and Rocaille periods. Color themes are in between those of gothic and Sweet Lolita, they are not as dark as Gothic but not as light and cute as Sweet. The use of small intricate patterns, low key colors and overall design give this style a classier tone and look. A-line and Empire waist skirts/dresses add to its classy design. Accessories are more practical and jewelry is more intricate. Makeup is done low key and emphasize natural coloring.
